Dark Night: A True Batman Story Reviewed in the National Post
From the review:
The characters of Dini’s imagination exist in a world where there is only ever the illusion of change. All have suffered a great blow (the death of Batman’s parents, for example) for which they feel responsible. In each storyline they go looking for redemption, beat up some bad guys, overcome some personal issue, and seem to get closer to finding peace. But then, at the start of the next issue, they’re back to where they started. Dark Night, for all of its superhero trappings, is a very real story – a creator struggling with doubt and questioning the legitimacy of his work. And because in the end Dark Night is a real story, Dini is allowed to find the redemption he needs to move on.
